Lalor Secondary College House Program

The College has four houses. These houses are:

  • Bradman (Green)
  • Patterson (Yellow)
  • Cowan (Blue), and
  • Dunlop (Red).

The House Program offers students the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities at lunchtimes.

Such activities may include Tennis, Football Set Shot Goal Kicking, Dance Competitions, Basketball, Cricket and other novelty events. The House Program incorporates the Lalor SC Athletics Carnival and Fun Run.

The names of famous Australians used to represent each of the Houses are all famous Australians, who have been instrumental in forming a culture in Australia that Lalor Secondary College values, – download What’s in the names of the Houses’

It is envisioned that the program will extend to student participation in the extra-curricular academic programs, so that students are recognised for their contributions to the school and their house, beyond the classroom.

Peer Leadership Program

All Year 7 students are supported in their transition to secondary school with the assistance from selected Year 11 student leaders.

The Peer Support Leaders assist transition through providing academic support in the class room, assisting at the Afterschool Homework Club and in providing identified students with tutoring. In addition to academic support, Peer Support Leaders run lunchtime clubs to help facilitate positive relationships and mentor younger students in an area of interest such as:

  • Media Club
  • Art Club
  • Music Club
  • Piano Club
  • Sports Club
  • Culture Club

In Term One, all clubs are open to Year 7 students to help with mentoring and transition to secondary school. From Term Two all students may attend clubs.
