2022 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

WE WOULD LIKE OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

A random sample of approximately 80 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate in this year’s survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

The survey results continue to inform the school improvement team as well as other teams within the college Please contact the general office if you would like more information.

School Review

The school review process that is led by the Department of Education every 4 years is concluding this Thursday the 25th of August. Last week our school reviewer, senior education improvement leader and a visiting principal undertook 3 fieldwork days that saw them visit classrooms, speak with staff, students and parents and look at our school processes and associated supporting documents. The final panel day is an opportunity to discuss what they found and set the direction of the college for the next 4 years. I thank those parents who were able to give up their time and attend the feedback session and provide their point of view on all things Lalor Secondary College.

School Production

The students and production team have been working hard all year in preparation for this year’s school production of Moana. I have already purchased my tickets for the event on the 7th of September at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre. Tickets are selling fast, so please follow the directions for purchasing the tickets online as ticket sales are being managed external to the college.

School Policy

The school policies are routinely reviewed so the policies match the practical application of the processes taking place within the college. One of the policies updated this year is the Yard Duty and Supervision Policy. The updates to this policy are available to all members of the college community via the following link on our website – YardDutySupervisionPolicy.2022-2024.pdf (lalorsc.vic.edu.au)
